Course description
With increasing social influence of AI and the big data behind it, many things around us are being thoroughly quantified. On the other hand, natural sciences and social sciences are based on the premise of quantifying the subject. So, by tracing the history of Western thought and science, we will consider how nature has been quantified and what it means to quantify nature.
Expected Learning
1.Be able to understand the social conditions that made the quantification of nature possible.
2.Be able to understand the quantification of nature in relation to one's own field of expertise.
