Course description |
Advanced studies will be extended in details of physical metallurgy to facilitate ht analytical ability of graduate students who is going to prepare their theses for master degree dissertation. |
Expected Learning |
This course aims to let the graduate students in the materials engineering laboratory to study self-sconsisitently upon the principles and applications of materials science and engineering. Speciallized ability such as follows will be built. 1) capability in performing advanced researches on materials structures 2) capability in performing advanced researches on materials properties 3) capability in performing advanced researches on physical/chemical/thermal/mechanical processing applied on mengineering materials 4) capability in performing advanced analysis on materials performance 5) capability in summerizing up the research work in speciallized presentations and in technical reports |
Course schedule |
Seminars and colloquia will be given on topics as follows: (1) physical metallurgy (2) microstructure characterization (3) X-ray diffraction analysis of crystal structures (4) critical resolved shear stress of single crystals (5) constitutive laws describing kinetic characteristics of flow behavior (6) vacancy mechanism of atomic diffusion and its thermally activated process (7) crystallography and orientation relationship in martensitic transformation (8) deformation twins and annealing twins (9) dislocation modeling of creep (10) structure and behavior of grain boundaries (11) ordered structure in intermetallic phases (12) anomalous temperature dependence of strength in intermetallic alloys and their superdislocation models (13) shape memory effect and superelasticity in NiTi alloys (14) creep behavior in metals, alloys, and intermetallics (15) superplasticity in fine-grained materials |

Junior course subjects upon materials engineering and materials strength. |
