Course description
This lecture presents AIST researches involved in partner graduate school.
Biotechnology researches developed in AIST (https://www.aist.go.jp/)will be presented with recent technology trends including practical examples.This lecture is held as an intensive course simultaneously with Frontier of Biotechnology III.
Purpose:Training of research planning ability. To deepen your understanding about principles and recent applications for various measurement techniques.
Expected Learning
To deepen the understanding of both principles and recent trends about practical bioengineering research, and to build up an image about future career path.
Course schedule
Day 1: Introduction, micro- and nano-particles, microscopy techniques
Methods to fabricate various micro- and nano-particles and their applications for life science studies are explained. In addition, principles and recent developments for various microscopy techniques are lectured.

Day 2: Atomic force microscopy and single cell nano-manipulations
Principles of atomic force microscopy (AFM) are introduced. In addition, nano-manipulation technologies using the AFM are explained.

Day 3: On-chip cellomics and its application for cancer diagnostics
On-chip cellomics technologies based on micro-fabrication technologies are lectured. In addition, its application for cancer diagnostics are introduced.
