Course description |
√ On July, 15, 2022 (Fri) 10:00 〜 at The 1st meeting room, 4th floor, Main building of United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, TUAT √ Character of undifferentiated cells and the mechanism of differentiation-related phenotype expression with particular reference to characterization of undifferentiated stem cell will be lectured with face-to-face by Japanese. √ This class will be held to acquire advanced professional ability by learning the latest knowledge in the field of animal sciences |
Expected Learning |
√ Understanding of the concept of the stem cell. √ Understanding of initialization of somatic cells and establishment of iPSC. √ Understanding of the relationship between cellular differentiation and the organogenesis with special reference to tendon/muscle. Through this class, the student will acquire advanced professional ability. |
Course schedule |
1) Concept of stem cells Embryonic stem cells formed in the fertilized egg, then develop several somatic cells via somatic stem cells. In this section, characters of ES cell and somatic stem cells will be introduced. 2) Initialization of somatic cells Induced pluripotent stem cells were established by transfection of 4 initializing factors to mouse skin fibroblasts for the first time in the world at 2006. In this section, the history of improvement of iPSC engineering and the problem will be introduced. 3) Induction of some differentiated cells from iPSC or mesenchymal stem cells In this section, induction of mesenchymal stem cell from iPSC and differentiation of tendon/muscle from mesenchymal stem cells will be introduced. |
Prerequisites |
Knowledge of molecular biology as well as mammalian histology and embryology will be needed. |
Required Text(s) and Materials |
The lecture materials will be handed out in Google classroom as PDF files |
