Course description
Farm Animal Medicine Ⅱ, like Farm Animal Medicine I, is a subject established along the Veterinary Medicine Model Core Curriculum. You will learn about symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and preventive methods in general.
This course is taught by instructors with practical experience. The faculty members in charge are directly involved in farm animal clinical practice at NOSAI and private companies, and lectures are based on actual clinical examples.
Expected Learning
Deepen your understanding of the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of textbook paradigms of major farm animal diseases. In addition, students acquire the theory construction that can be applied and interpreted when they encounter actual cases in clinical practice etc.

1: Basics of medical care techniques for farm animals (syllabus explanation, importance of basic and aseptic techniques)
2: Anesthesia in farm animal care (local anesthesia & general anesthesia, anesthesia for pregnant cows)
3: Musculoskeletal Diseases Overview (Overview, lameness diagnosis, hoof management)
4: Musculoskeletal Diseases (Hoof Diseases)
5: Musculoskeletal Diseases (Bone Diseases, Fractures)
6: Musculoskeletal disease specifics (tendon disease, limb axis abnormality)
7: Digestive system disease (upper digestive system, horse)
8: Musculoskeletal Diseases (Joint and Ligament Diseases)
9: Equine Surgical Disease
10: Head, respiratory disease (horse respiratory disease, cattle oral disease)
11: Bovine Digestive Diseases (Gastrointestinal Diseases)
12: Bovine body wall disease (various hernias such as umbilical, inguinal, and scrotal hernias, umbilical abscess, umbilical infection)
13: Bovine Mammary/Urinary Diseases (Papilla Damage, Bladder Rupture, Urolithiasis)
14: Reproductive diseases (obstetric surgery, castration)
15: Round Summary, final exam
Prerequisites
This course consists of academic knowledge related to internal medicine, surgery, and animal hygiene, and requires mastery of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, microbiology, and parasitology. This course is intended to broadly bridge the knowledge of each academic field of veterinary medicine, and it is necessary to go back to the basics and deepen thinking about unclear points.

Assessment/Grading
Take attendance every time. An attendance rate of 70% or higher will qualify you to take the final exam.    
Applicants who score 60 points or higher on the final exam are considered to have passed.
Message from instructor(s)
Only one re-examination is scheduled for one week after the final exam for students with good attendance.
