Course description |
Basic synthetic organic chemistry lecture will be given in this class, with the focus on multistep processes. Several reactions should be employed to synthesize the desired compound, which will be introduced in this class. |
Expected Learning |
First, one should understand organic reactions based on the mechanisms and reasonably predict the products even those generated from unknown substrates. Second, one should give synthetic schemes for relatively complicated molecules. Corresponding criteria in the Diploma policy: See the curriculum maps. https://www.tuat.ac.jp/campuslife_career/campuslife/policy |
Course schedule |
1st and 2nd classes will give outlines for synthetic organic chemistry. From 3rd to 7th classes will explain organic reactions based on their mechanisms. Summary of the first half of the classes and midterm exam will be carried out in 8th class. From 9th to 14th classes will explain multistep synthetic organic chemistry. Summary of the second half of the classes and final exam will be carried out in 15th class. |
Prerequisites |
Organic Chemistry I, II, and III are expected to be studied, but it is not required. In addition to 30 hours in classes, students are recommended to spend the standard amount of time as specified by the University. |
