| Course description |
| This course aims to learn the background and process of forest and agricultural development and the changes in ecological and social environment by focusing on the case studies in developing regions, especially Southeast Asia. Students learn agricultural and forestry development approaches widely from international to grassroots levels, and discuss the possibilities of applying lessons from international agricultural and forestry development to solving local problems in Japan. |

Students will be able to understand the background and process of forest and agricultural development in developing regions and the changes in ecological and social environment from multiple perspectives, and to discuss the development approaches widely. | Prerequisites |
| Sufficient preparation and review are required according to the standard time of 15 hours of our university. It is recommended to voluntarily read related materials based on the lecture and utilize them in the Q & A, reaction papers, and final report assignments during the course. |

| Assessment/Grading |
| The evaluation is made comprehensively by reaction papers (40%) to assess the each participant's understanding and by final report assignment (60%) to assess each participant's efforts of problem-finding, learning, and discussions. |
