Intellectual property has become a source of global competitiveness as it has become a central issue in the U.S.-China conflict. It is necessary to pay attention to the intellectual property of others and one's own intellectual property in the fields of research and development as well as business. This course is offered as a science-related liberal arts course classified under the global liberal arts course group of liberal arts education, and is taught by a faculty member with practical experience. The faculty member in charge of this course is engaged in work dealing with intellectual property as a patent attorney, and the class will make use of his/her actual experience and practical knowledge related to patent attorney work and examination by the Japan Patent Office. |

(1) Guidance, Self-introduction, Lecture procedures, Grading criteria (2)Patent Law, Utility Model Law, Design Law, and Trademark Law (3) Outline of Patent Law I. Completion of invention, patent application, application publication, and request for application examination, (4) Outline of Patent Law II Explanation of the procedures for examination and appeal before the Patent Office. (5) Outline of Patent Law III: Cases of patent infringement lawsuits will be reviewed. (6) Outline of Patent Law IV: An overview of patent systems in other countries will also be given. (7) Patent Law Review V: Explanation of claim interpretation (8) Outline of Patent Law VI Explanation of effective utilization of patent rights such as licensing (9) Summary Mid-term examination (10) Outline of Utility Model Law Outline of Utility Model Law Summary of the first 5 sessions. (11) Outline of design law Outline of design law. Introduction of cases. (12) Introduction to trademark law I Introduction to trademark law. Cases will be introduced. (13) Treaty of Paris Paris, Patent Cooperation Treaty (14) Comprehensive Exercise I Review and preparation for the final examination. (15) Comprehensive Exercise II: Review and preparation for the final examination. |

| In addition to the 30 hours of class time, students are required to review and prepare for the course by referring to the textbook and reference materials, which is equivalent to the standard number of hours required by the University. |
