Course description
Basics and latest topics of biology and chemistry relevant to materials cycle and environmental sciences are lectured.
Expected Learning
The instructors expect to understand the field of advanced Environmental Biology and Chemistry.

Course schedule
This class is the omnibus style lecture conducted by the instructors. Details of the contents of the class for each instructor will be shown below. The schedule for each teacher is tentative and will be finalized in September.

1st (Oct. 3) Guidance

2nd (Oct. 10) WATANABE Izumi:
Interactive lectures will explore the theme of what is required to solve environmental problems. We start by asking why environmental problems occur, and together we think about what is important to aim for.

3rd (Oct. 17) UMEZAWA Yu:
Overview of coral reef studies in the fields of geomorphology, biology, material cycle, and conservation biology

4th (Oct. 24) TARAO Mitsunori:
The difference between ecology and ecosystem science are lectured.

5th (Oct. 31) NAKASHIMA Yoshihiro:
Fundamental and current studies for the gas phase reactions related with the formation of photochemical oxidant in troposphere.

6th (Nov. 7) IZUTA Takeshi:
Recent studies on air quality improvement by urban greening trees are lectured.

7th. Summary (Report preparation)
Current environmental problem will be discussed based on the above lectures.
Prerequisites
Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (15 hours).

1) Learning attitude 50% and 2) Reports 50%

1) Learning attitude, short test, impression and question etc. in each lecture.

2) Choose one from the five lecture topics and summarize a report (A4 size, 1-2 pages) until the end of December from Classroom.
