Course description
This lecture contains a class by teacher with experiences of work abroad
in institute. A process of establishment of international environmental
monitoring program will be lectured. Furthermore, the effects of environmental stresses such as gaseous air pollutants, PM2.5 and acid deposition on plants and its mechanisms will be lectured.

A teacher who has practical experience outside academia teaches this
class. Dr. Tarao worked at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
as a part-time specialist and a member of investigation teams. A part of
his course is based on his experience at JICA.
Expected Learning
Learners who successfully complete this course are expected to acquire
mathematical skill and mind which are indispensable to understand and solve
environmental and resource problems.

Prerequisites
Prior to each class, participants read some sections of textbook which are
assigned, and work on exercises of each section.
The participants should read original papers concerning "plants and environment" and be ready for the presentation.
In completing this course, students will spend the standard amount of time as specified by the University.
