Aims: Students will learn the theory and research methods for ecosystem conservation based on vegetation science. Outline: This course offers lectures and fieldworks to learn the forest vegetation zonation in Japan and surrounding Asian region. |

1. Vegetation zonation in Japan and east Asia (Lecture) 2. Evergreen broad-leaved forest (Lecture) 3. Summer-green broad-leaved forest (Lecture) 4. Coniferous forest (Lecture) 5-8. Field research on vegetation zonation (Fieldwork, Mt. Takao) |
Prerequisites |
This lecture is an elective subject, and is one of the specialized subjects. The students are required to have basic knowledge of ecology, vegetation science, biodiversity conservation, and landscape ecology. Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (30 ours). |
