Course description
Aims: Students will study the application of forest ecology and forest soil science to understand practical theories and research methods of forest environment conservation and management.
Outline: Topics related to forest ecology and forest soil science will be studied through student research and presentations.
Expected Learning
Students need to gain knowledge of research topics and methods about these area, and you need to gain ability to apply it to forest environment conservation and management.

Course schedule
The following topics in forest ecology and forest soil science will be investigated and understood through explanations (intensive practice) to third parties in a forest setting. The schedule for the intensive practice will be listed in the syllabus as soon as it is determined. In addition, guidance on the class schedule and procedures will be given in the first class, and students who plan to take the course are required to attend the class.

3. Soil Animals and Microorganisms in Forests
4. Decomposition of organic matter in forests
5. Nutrient Cycling and Balance in Forest Ecosystems
6. Forest Practices and Management
7. Multifunctional Functions of Forests
8. Sustainable Use of Forests and Conservation of Forest Environment
Prerequisites
This lecture is an elective subject, and is one of the specialized subjects.
Students who have not completed undergraduate courses in forest ecology, forest soil science, and silviculture are required to read one or two textbooks on these subjects before taking the course.
Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (15 hours).

Assessment/Grading
Evaluation will be based on participation in discussions on the theme, field presentations during intensive practical training (50%), and the quality of reports after the program (50%).
However, the grades were obtained when "Forest Environmental Conservation Studies I" was two credits and was taught by two faculty members.
