Course description
Aims: Students will learn forest ecology from the basics to the advanced level. And then students will understand the theory and research methods about forest environment conservation and management practice.
In this course, you can learn forest soil science and forest ecology mainly.
Outline: This course is not only a lecture. We will also discuss from students’ presentation of research topics and methods about these area.
Expected Learning
Students need to gain knowledge of research topics and methods about these area, and you need to gain ability to apply it to forest environment conservation and management.

Course schedule
Following title of lecture, students’ presentation and discussion
We will talk about detail schedule in the 1st class.

1. Forest environment
2. Nutritional ecology of plants
3. Evolution of plant life history and population dynamics
4. Breeding process and genetic structure
5. Interaction between forest organism and physical environment
6. Climate change and forest ecosystem
7. Restoration of forest ecosystem
8. Current situation of forests in Japan and the world
Prerequisites
This lecture is an elective subject and is one of the specialized subjects.
The student without the experience that learned forest ecology, plant ecophysiology and environmental change should read these textbooks beforehand.
Students need to preview and review for an amount of time as indicated in the student guidelines of TUAT, in addition to the attendance of lecture (30 hours).
