Course description |
In this lecture, we will focus on organizational behavior theory and knowledge creation theory to deepen our understanding of human behavior, organizational structure, decision-making processes, and knowledge creation within organizations. Approximately half of the lecture will be dedicated to explaining theories and concepts, while the remaining half will be spent on group exercises. During these exercises, we will launch simulated team projects to experience knowledge creation organizations, develop practical skills in team building and business plan creation, and present business plans. Additionally, we will provide opportunities for students to engage in dialogues with each other about the topics covered in each lecture to facilitate self-growth. Overall, the goal of this course is to learn organizational behavior theory and knowledge creation theory, and acquire practical organizational behavior skills through the experience of collective sense-making processes. |

Course schedule |
1week: Introduction we will provide an overview of organizational behavior theory and its historical background. 2week: Performance, Motivation, and Communication In this session, we will discuss individual-level performance and motivation theory, as well as organizational-level performance and communication. 3week: Knowledge Creation Theory We will discuss the SECI model of knowledge creation and sensemaking theory. 4week: Organizational Culture and Structure In this session, we will discuss the importance of understanding organizational culture and the need to update it during organizational change. 5week: Organizational Change and Innovation: The Process of Change and Organizational Learning We will explore the process of organizational change and organizational learning. 6-13week: Group Exercises 1-8 Practicing the SECI Model through team project for business planning We will practice the SECI model through a series of group exercises, including creating a business plan and experiencing collective sensemaking. 14week: Presentation of Business Plans Each team will present their business plan and receive feedback from the instructor and other teams. 15week: Conclusion Practical Application of Knowledge Creation Theory We will reflect on the group exercises and deepen our understanding of knowledge creation theory. |

Organizational behavior is an interdisciplinary theory related to human behavior, organizational structure, decision-making, and other aspects within organizations. In addition, knowledge creation theory, particularly the SECI model, has become increasingly important in the VUCA era for knowledge management, creation, sharing, and application within organizations. Through the lectures, students will acquire fundamental knowledge about behavior and decision-making within organizations, as well as practical skills necessary for business through problem-solving exercises. |
