Course description
Discuss and report on their research, including the investigation of existing technologies, the academic significance and positioning of their proposals, and the actual progress of their research, and use these to determine the direction and progress of their research through meetings with faculty members and other members of the laboratory, and at the same time learn about research and development methods. The students will also learn the methods of research and development.

Through meetings with faculty members and other laboratory members regarding the above, the direction and progress of research will be clarified, and advanced technology management and research skills will be cultivated.

Report on the status of research (Students will conduct research on their own research topics under the instructor's guidance, report on their progress, conduct a literature review, make presentations, and hold discussions. They will develop their research independently by using guidance and advice from other researchers.)
(2) Literature and paper introduction (Students will read research papers on products and markets related to their own research topics and literature. Students practice critical discussion of research methods and experimental data and deepen their thinking about the nature and value of their own research in the industrial world.

Prerequisites
This course is required for first-year students. In addition to the time needed for the seminar and its preparation, self-study equivalent to the standard number of hours at the University is required.
To receive credit, students must prepare an interim presentation/report and give a presentation within the department.
The style of the report should be by the instructions of the supervising professor.

Assessment/Grading
In each seminar, the status of daily research activities and efforts toward preparing the master's thesis (experimental operation techniques, data analysis skills, report writing skills, information gathering skills, etc., which are essential for the preparation of the thesis) will be comprehensively evaluated. Specifically, the evaluation will be based on the materials, presentations, and discussions at the seminar (50%) and the level of the mid-term presentation (50%).
