Course description

This is an English course that incorporates content from the students’ academic disciplines with a focus on building academic presentation and writing skills. Students will work independently, in pairs, and in small groups to enhance their presentation and academic writing skills. Using content from their specialized fields of study, students will focus on (1) presentation skills, (2) constructing and delivering poster presentations, (3) constructing and delivering effective presentations, (3) participating in Q&A sessions, and (5) writing a proposal, reference list and basic academic report. Students are expected to prepare for classes by completing assigned exercises and assignments.

Expected Learning
Students will be able to:
- engage in academic discussions in groups.
- explain research topics in English.
- give a poster presentation on the research field in English.
- give formal presentations on the research field in English.
- write a research proposal, academic report, and bibliography on the research field in English.
- participate in a formal question and answer session after a presentation.
