This lecture course is designed to develop advanced professional skills in the field of social science of agriculture, forestry, and symbiosis by learning cutting-edge knowledge and techniques in agricultural science to recognize issues related to population, environment, and resource economics in developing societies from a global perspective and sharing knowledge and issues through active discussions. The course is designed to develop advanced professional skills in the field of social sciences in agriculture, forestry, and symbiosis.
Students will learn about research studies on population and environmental/resource economics in developing countries and regions, especially China, focusing on demographic dynamics that effectively realize sustainable development. In addition to lectures, this course incorporates video viewings, one-on-one presentations on selected themes, and discussions on the situation in each country.
Class Format: Lecture + Active Learning (AL) 
Expected Learning
1. To understand sustainable development and regional planning, with a focus on resource economics and population issues
2. Enable to summarize and present the selected topics.
3. To present one's own country's situation and ideas on a case study of one's own country, and through active discussion, to understand the position of one's research in one's area of specialization and to acquire the ability to look ahead to the future.

4. To understand the position of one's research in one's field of specialization and to acquire the ability to foresee prospects through active discussion.

To acquire an attitude of self-improvement to constantly review the position of one's field of specialization in domestic and international society and the social needs of that field from a relative perspective and to continue to challenge oneself to explore and reform issues based on the relevance of other fields.
Course schedule
1. Acquiring basic knowledge about world population:
(1) Changing Demographics and Economic Growth
(2) Population issues, the environment, and food problems
(3) Environment and resource economics
2. Acquiring Skills to Read and Decide Population Data: Learn how to use the United Nations site population data.
3. Case study and issue recognition:
Introduces China's population problem, environment, and resource economic situation. Afterward, participants introduce and discuss the situation in each country.
4. Presentation and discussion on topics: One of the topics will be selected, presented, and discussed.
Prerequisites
In addition to the class time (7.5 hours), time to prepare a 5-page report assignment and a PowerPoint presentation, students are required to gather information on the topics to be covered in class in preparation for presenting their ideas and the situation in their home countries and to review and prepare for the standard number of hours of study at the University.

Assessment/Grading
Grades are given based on 40 % on presentation, another 40% on a 5-page report, and 20% on contribution during the classes.
