Course description
In this course, the operations of the museum and the curator's work would be learned and discussed through visiting several museums.
Furthermore, the pallning methods of the special exhibition through handling the collections and creatin the exhibitted materials. Most of these trainings will be held on the Koganei campus.

Expected Learning
Curators are often mentioned as the huge multitusk workers. They are often requried to be the experts for various fields. The experiences through the handling collections, visiting several museums, and creating the special exhibition and degital srchiving give your understandings abot the museum deppen, which would help you to become a museum expert in future.

Assessment/Grading
Student participation for group works 50%, and report and presentation 50%.
Message from instructor(s)
First, it is required to understand the actual circumstances of museum management and curatorial works by visiting various museums. Second, it is necessary to learn a series of processes during exhibitions planning through training the object handling related in basic knowledge and skills. Finally, it is asked that deepen the comprehension of museum management and curatorial work inside actual museum.
The functions of curator are so variable, and their work is asked plenty of experiences. Students will understand the fact of museum management and curatorial work from both theoretical and practical via experiential learning. Additionally, their practical skills as curators will be developed through real experience in museums.
