Course description
This course is jointly held with "International Communication Exercise I" which is the pre-study sessions for the Steinbeis Training Program in Japan offered by the Graduate School of BASE (Bio-Applications and Systems Engineering)

In this course, students hone problem-finding and problem-solving skills through an attractive and unresolved theme; discover their own knowledge deficits; share knowledge with each other through team activities; and improve diverse communication skills in the process. As a result, students will develop autonomy and a foundation for future self-improvement.

Expected Learning
To work as a researcher globally and continuously, knowledge of science is not enough; knowledge and skills in strategy and marketing of business administration are also necessary.
Through this course, students will understand the following three points by replacing the 4Ps of marketing (Product: research theme, Price: type of money (budget), Promotion: journal, Place(distribution/sales): academic societies) and be able to make their own plans.

1) To redefine one's own research area/field and understand the current situation.

2) Differentiation and positioning from/in competing researchers/groups

3) Which conferences to present at and which journals to publish in

Prerequisites
This course is an elective required course for the WISE regular students and required course for third-year transferred WISE students.
This course must be taken together with "Outline of Global Leadership II".

In addition to the class time, students will need the time for assignments, for refering to the distributed lecture materials and reference books, and for preparation and reviewing in accordance with the standard number of hours of this university.

If WISE students continue to participate in the main training program of Steinbeis Training Program in Japan after this course, they can apply for credits in the "International Workshop" in the WISE program. For details, please refer to the syllabus of the "International Workshop" or to the faculty member in charge of this course in the WISE Program.
