令和4年10月17日〜令和5年2月6日 (毎週 月曜日）10:30〜12:00 対面授業 この講義では、大学院生の皆さんに科学コミュニケーションに必要な英語を使う、多くの機会を設けます。各自の研究に関する英文レポート作成や、英語で研究者、科学者とのより円滑で効率的なコミュニケーションを可能にすることを目的とします。また、私たちに必要不可欠であるエネルギー、食糧、繊維などの資源における持続的利用法をディスカッションします。 |

この講義では、以下の項目の達成を目標とする。 (1) 研究内容を英語で口頭発表する。 (2) セミナー、ワークショップ、討論会、で英語で自分の意見やコメントなどを発言する。 (3) 研究に基づき英語で論文を書き、他の研究者との円滑な交流をする。 英語で研究提案を書く。 |

Week 1: Orientation: Explanation of the course content and grading criteria Week 2: Communicating in multi-cultural societies Week 3: Scientific journals and impact factors Week 4: Making research titles attractive Week 5: A brief explanation of the main components of a scientific paper (Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, References, Acknowledgement) Week 6: Sentence and paragraph connectors frequently used by native English writers in scientific papers Week 7: Identifying and correcting errors in scientific reports Week 8: Writing reports based on “model experiments” ? Questionnaire-based surveys, Laboratory and Field experiments Week 9: Writing Research proposals Week 10: Ethical and legal issues in Scientific Communications Week 11: Citing references in scientific reports and captions for figures/tables Week 12: Presenting research findings in scientific reports Week 13: Presenting research findings in oral/poster sessions Week 14: “Gender neutral” expressions in English reports Week 15: Presentation and submission of final reports |
| 履修条件・関連項目 |

必修の1単位 授業時間30時間に加え、テキストや参考書を用いて本学の標準時間数に準ずる予習復習を行う。 単位取得には、2 / 3以上の出席が必須。遅刻・早退は2回で欠席1回とみなす。 |
